FAQs
what do you do during the visit?
Upon arrival of your home, we let your dog out for a potty break. We then begin our scheduled daily training. Most of the visit is spent focusing on developing your dog’s skill set. We end the visit with a different form of physical/mental enrichment every time and a final potty break.
What is mental/physical enrichment?
Physical enrichment is getting your dog’s body moving and meeting physical exercise needs. (Example: Fetch, Tug, Frisbee, etc.)
Mental enrichment is activating your dog’s brain to help with cognitive skills and problem solving. (Example: Puzzle toys, scent work, frozen Kong, etc.)
What kind of training methods do you use?
We only use the most up to date and science based training methods. We have a professional understanding of a dog’s ability to learn. We find what reinforcers motivate your dog and utilize these to drive towards goal behaviors.
How long is each homeschool program?
Each program consists of 8 homeschool visits, Monday-Thursday for 2 weeks. Each individual visit is 60 minutes of care & training.
How do we stay in the loop with how to continue training?
Every individual visit we will leave details on which skills were worked on that day and how to continue to reinforce them without the trainer present. This may include written notes, videos/pictures, etc. On Friday mornings you will receive a weekly recap in your email to continue the training over the weekend. We strive to keep an open line of communication to ensure the skills are being consistent and any questions are answered.
Do you use any training tools?
Yes! A wide variety of training tools are used depending on the dog’s needs. These tools include clickers, treats, long lines, toys, beds, and any other positive reinforcement tools needed to reach the desired behavior.
